What is the “Tour du Biros” ?
It is a 4 day hike in the heart of Ariège’s mountains in the wild valley of Biros. Accessible to every one and perfect to get into hiking, this trek allow you to enjoy beautiful mountains and unspoiled landscapes with friends or family (from the age of eight). Additionally, for those with a taste of aventure, you can climb the high peak of Crabère (2629m), which starts at Etang d’Araing, a lake.
Throughout the tour, you will be surrounded by examples of the valley’s rich mining history while surrounded by the stunning natural vistas. The route will take you, on average, somewhere between, three and a half and six hours. The weather is generally favourable between June and September.
How to come?

It is possible to take the train from Toulouse to Boussens and then the SNCF bus from Boussens to Saint Girons. More information on: https://www.sncf.com/fr
Once you arrive at Saint-Girons, you can choose to take the bus, the taxi or to hitchhike, in order to get on top of the valley.

Accommodation/prices
The one refuge (staffed mountain hut) and two gîtes (hostels in the country side with road access) will allow you to travel without camping equipment along the route should you choose to as you will receive a friendly welcome, bed and cooked food at the refuge and gîtes. You will be provided with matresses and covers for sleeping (we advise you to bring your own sleeping bag and bath towel).
For all the accommodations, you can choose to lodge in regime of half or full board (you’ll find the prices directy on their websites). Prices for full board and half board are below, please check the website to clarify what each entitles you to.
Be careful, it’s impossible to pay with a bank card at the establishments so bring cash!
